Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You sent an enquiry about a course or service
  • You joined one of our Open Days, online festivals or other events

What we do with the information

We use the information you give us to understand your needs and provide you with a better service.

The information we store may be used for:

  • Delivering the online learning experience, event or service you signed up for
  • Replying to your enquiries and feedback
  • Internal record keeping
  • Improving our products and services
  • Sending email newsletters about Professional Writing Academy courses and services, and those we provide for our partner organisations, including John Yorke Story, Cornerstones, New Writing North, Jericho Writers and Granta

What we don’t do with the information

  • We do not store credit card details
  • We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

If you are under 18, please inform a parent or guardian about your use of our site. We will need their consent for you to join our courses.

We’re committed to keeping your information secure. Although you should be aware that sending information over the internet is not 100% secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

All our learning platforms and associated websites are hosted within UK data centres. We do however use some third party providers, for certain specialist services, which are based outside the UK/EEA. When using such providers we ensure that they have appropriate controls in place for managing private data and we ensure that we only share with them the data that is strictly necessary.

We regularly review and update these procedures.
