We have lots of exciting events lined up for our alumni this month, from Q&As to the chance to win a place on a course!

Competition time!

      • We’d like you to experiment with flash fiction. Write a 500-word story inspired by the theme ‘blue’ to be in with the chance to win a free place on our Write and Submit a Short Story course (worth £750).

Stay connected

Explore our regular sessions to connect with other writers or dedicate time to write.

  • Sit & Write
    Set aside regular time and headspace each week to get stuff written. Our Sit & Write sessions set you up with a deadline to get that writing done. We meet weekly on Zoom on Mondays, 7:00 – 8:30pm BST. No need to book – just turn up in our online space on Zoom and write for an hour!

  • Writers’ Hive
    We meet in our Writers’ Hive to share a coffee (or beverage of your choice) and chat. The sessions are hosted by writer and moderator Emily Unwin. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month, 7-8pm BST. No need to book. Our next session will be Tuesday, 7 May.

Live events

Monthly live events to kickstart your writing, with space to chat with industry professionals.

  • Q&A with Amy Bonnaffons – Monday 13 May, 7-8 pm BST.
    We’re delighted to welcome Amy Bonnaffonsacclaimed author of The Wrong Heaven and The Regrets (Little Brown), for a live Q&A. Join us with your questions on writing, the visual arts, spiritual transformation and the editing process.

  • Workshop with Abigail Mann – Monday 10 June, 7-9 pm BST.
    Is your manuscript ready to go? Abigail Mann will guide you as you craft a compelling query letter and synopsis, gain the tools to grab an agent’s attention.

  • Q&A with Rowan Hisayo Buchanan – Thursday 13 June, 8-9 pm BST.
    Rowan Hisayo Buchanan author of Starling Days and The Sleep Watcher and tutor on Granta’s Writing Memoir course will be joining us to take your questions on fiction, life writing and editing.

Meet your Core team

Georgia Northall

Georgia Northall is our marketing lead.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University and has since achieved certification in Digital Marketing.

She runs our social media and produces much of our marketing materials, from newsletters and tweets to blogs and live events.

You can also find her behind the scenes at WriteWell.

She’s an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi, scouring the internet for recommendations at every opportunity. With several years of experience as an online book reviewer up her sleeve, there’s nothing she loves more than chatting about the latest publishing news.
